One KAI

One Kai is a marine and sociological catalyst that seeks to bring together all factions of the marine world, so that no-one's voice goes unheard.

What We Do

One Kai aims to increase the effectiveness of sustainable fisheries management by combining local knowledge with innovative technology. Communication and partnership is at the heart of everything we do; Whether that’s an open conversation with a local fisher or a documentary screened to the general public, science communication is our primary pillar.

The Data Project:

We are now developing a dashboard to inform policy makers and fishers alike to streamline the process of fishery management where all stakeholders have a voice. We all have to start somewhere, and aggregating Ocean data is a sizeable task so our initial focus is on fisheries in the commercial fishing sector…for now.

Documentaries:

We use science communication to broaden awareness and expand education to audiences, beyond the coastal communities who depend on the Ocean for their livelihoods, through documentaries, podcasts and educational programmes.

Our first documentary ‘Fighting for the Underdog’ has been key in building relationships with key stakeholders and is currently being shown around the UK.

Podcasts:

Out of Our Bubble is our podcast with a twist, where our host is not the one asking the questions, instead the guests with all manner of backgrounds are asking the questions.. Join us to bridging the gap between scientific research, inaccurate media and the rest of us!
