  • Adam Wyness

    Dr Adam Wyness

    SENIOR ADVISOR

    Adam is a bioinformatician and data scientist who has worked on a wide range of marine and freshwater ecosystems. Originally obtaining a PhD from the University of St Andrews in microbiology and molecular ecology, he has experience in working with many types of data to achieve research goals, including geospatial, biochemical, ecological and Next-Generation Sequencing data.

    He has most recently been developing software pipelines for the incorporation of eDNA sampling into benthic monitoring for marine aquaculture regulation compliance.

  • Laura McFarlane

    Laura McFarlane

    CO-FOUNDER

    Laura is a seasoned digital veteran and innovator driving digital transformation into industries including advertising, marketing and more recently as a partner at IBM where she worked on complex business environments. She is an experienced strategy leader and brings a combination of technology and business expertise to the group.

    She is deeply passionate about the ocean and opportunities to develop scalable solutions to some of our biggest problems. Laura is also a board advisor to SeaWorthy Collective.

  • Liberty Denman

    Liberty Denman

    CO-FOUNDER

    Liberty is a marine biologist and science communicator who has worked in marine research, campaigns, communications and consultancy around the world.

    In addition to founding Kai, Liberty is the Science and Communication Lead for ACUA Ocean where her role straddles technology and marine conservation. She is also a filmmaker for The Biome Project and The Marine Diaries as well as running her own consultancy business ‘Liberty Denman Dives’.

    Liberty graduated from the University of Plymouth where she also gained her HSE commercial diving certification.

  • Richard Chubb

    Richard Chubb

    CO-FOUNDER

    Richard is an experienced CFO who has worked in businesses across Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

    Richard’s experience ranges from power generation to healthcare and from established $300m revenue businesses to small startups.

    In addition to founding Kai, Richard holds several board positions, notably at Plymouth College, and DDRC Healthcare.

    Richard started his career with PwC in London. He is a Fellow of the ICAEW, holds a BA from the University of Durham and an MBA from Warwick Business School.

  • Olivia Young

    Olivia Young

    COMMS & SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN

    Olivia is a 3rd year Media and Communications student at Swansea University. Alongside her degree she is a freelance photographer, working predominantly in the music and sport sector.

    Her love of the ocean excelled at university where she spends much of her time in the Gower Peninsular wild-swimming or paddle-boarding. She started interning for KAI in June 2024 and hopes to continue working for the company in her last year of university and beyond.

    Abbie Wise

    Abbie is an Assistant Producer who has worked in a variety of genres but specialises in factual entertainment. She has worked on larger productions such as the Sky-broadcast series The Good Fight Club which follows a group of MMA fighters from a grassroots London gym, but has a particular passion for wildlife filmmaking and seizes the opportunity wherever possible to work on films about animals and conservation. In the future she hopes that her work will allow her to travel the world, storytelling to raise awareness of crucial issues and working with incredible people.

  • Alice Thomson

    Alice Thomson

    SCREEN WRITER

    Alice is a graduate in Biology from Leeds University, Alice has a strong passion for the natural world.

    Alice has worked as an Assistant Head of Development at Redeeming Features, a production company in London. Alice has also worked in production and as a camera operator across several independent film projects centred around the natural world.

    In her spare time, Alice is a keen diver and has taken on a number of outreach projects in the Ocean conservation space, including as a marine field guide and educator in science communication practice at the Natura. History Museum.

  • Finn Crouch

    Camera Operator

    Finn is currently a Junior Researcher for The Watches at BBC Studios, contributing to the production of engaging and informative wildlife and science stories for live and recorded programmes such as Winterwatch and Springwatch.

    A graduate of Falmouth University, Finn is a self-proclaimed shark nerd, with a passion for creating a voice for the animals who cannot speak for themselves and showcasing the beauty and strength of our planet through creative means.

    Finn has also worked as a Dive Camera Operator, Self Shooting Director, and Photojournalist, specialising in underwater imagery, film production, and communicating conservation issues.

  • Harrison Wood

    Harrison Wood

    CAMERA OPERATOR

    Harrison Is a freelance camera operator with a particular passion for all matters aquatic.

    Currently based in Bristol, Harrison has worked on a variety of films and documentaries about matters including clean shipping, sailing, and climate.

    Not unsurprisingly for someone picking such a career choice, he holds a first-class degree in Marine and Natural History Photography from Falmouth University
